The provided line graph illustrates a comparison of birth rates that were recorded from 1920 to 2000 in China and the USA
Overall, it is noticeable that both the surveyed countries’ birth rates observed declines over 80 years. Although the two shown trends were similar, the birth rate of the USA was higher than that of China in most years.
In the first decade, the birth rates of two surveyed nations experienced the same trend that involved the figures hovering at about 10%. From 1930 to 1945, the figure for China noticeably rose to 15%, followed by a slight drop to 5%, while that of the USA fluctuated with a downward pattern, before reaching the lowest point, under 5%.
In the next five years, China’s birth rate peaked at 20%, compared to a much smaller figure of 15% of the USA’s. After the year 1950, both the USA and China had their figures witness a significant decline to over 5% and nearly zero in 2000 respectively.
