With the recent explosive improvement in technology, people’s live have changed a lot over the last decades. The internet was invented and has become a crucial part of our daily life. The Internet has connected people around the globe, made our life more comfortable and most importantly created a place for people to share information with each other. People use the internet daily to search for things that they don’t know. It is believed that the Internet when used as a source of information, has more drawbacks than advantages. While there’re some extent of truth in this, I personally think that it’s advantages outweight it’s disadvantages.
On one hand, it is common believe that the Internet when use as a source of information has a lot of drawbacks. Firstly, people can use the Internet to search for and commit crime. People are curious so they search for a lot of things on the web including illegal stuff and there is no guarantee that they won’t commit it. So when the Internet’s information is not use properly it can do a lot of harm to the people who use it. Secondly, Internet user believe in any information that they’re provided with on the platform. Lots of information on the internet is based on the author’s own opinion so it’s can be extremely bias, so something that is right for this person can be wrong for someone else and it can be abused to spread untrue facts. Thirdly, while using the Internet the user exposed themselves to identity theft. With the connection that the Internet provided, bad people can use it steal your personal information. While there’re not many security on the web, identity theft can be easily committed and the victims often can’t do much about it. So if not being used wisely the Internet create many drawbacks in the user’s search for information.
On the other hand, when is used properly the Internet can be a great way to get yourself knowledge. Information on the web is unlimited. Since the development of search engines, it is easy for people to keep themselves updated with all the things that is happening around the Globe and granted the web’s user limitless access to materials that help them broaden their knowledge. Moreover, the Internet create a platform for anyone to give their opinion. Discussion is a great way for you to express your understanding about some subjects while getting feedback on it, a lot of websites have comments section for people to give their take on the topic that is being talk about the website so going through the comments section is not a bad ideal for get more reliable information. Additionally, information can be accessible by anyone. Internet is often very cheap and affordable, so anyone can have access to the Internet and its advantages. Furthermore, the Internet provide us with an unlimited source of information that is changing constantly. Everyday, researchers and scientists find out some things new about our world so the knowledge that you have today can be proven wrong in the future. Because of that it is extremely important to have a source of information that is continuously updating. The invention of Internet has without a doubt changed the course of human history forever, It created a place where we can share anything to anyone around the Earth.
In conclusion, I think the advantages of using the Internet as a source of information is big enough to prove my point. When is used wisely and properly, the Internet is a great way for people to search for information to improve themselves.
