Overall, the rate of Scotland’s festival tourists had witnessed the most remarkable decline. Additionally, the percentage of tourists to Scotland who visited the Zoo and the Castle saw an upward trend, whereas the figure for those in the Aquarium and festival attractions plummeted during the research period.

In 1980, the rate of Scotland’s festival visitors was the highest, standing at about 30%. In contrast, the Zoo was the least popular attraction for tourists to Scotland, which registered only 10% in 1980. At the same time, the proportion of Scotland visitors who set a tour to the Aquarium and the castle was roughly 20% and 24% respectively.

From 1980 to 200 was the fluctuating period of the percentage of Scotland’s Zoo tourists, but then the figure for those experienced a gradual growth by around 10% to 20% in 2010. By contrast, the percentage of tourists to Scotland who visited the festival during the research period slumped considerably, reaching the lowest point of roughly 18% in 2010. The figure for those who came to the castle saw a rapid increase from 1980 to 1990 and reached a peak of 45% in 1995. However, Scotland tourists then lose their interest in this type of attraction and the proportion for Scotland visitors to the Castle gradually fell and in 2010, it stood at around 34%. Similarly, the figure for those who visited the aquarium reached a peak in 1985 of 35% but then significantly plunged and became the least popular in 2010 of about 10%.
