The line graph shows changes in the per capita consumption of beef pork broilers and turkey in the United States between 1955 and 2012

The given chart details the statistical report comparing the amount of meat and poultry(in pounds) in relation to four boneless species that are consumed in the United States over a period of 57 years from 1955 to 2012.

Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that over the period as a whole, the consumption of Broilers and Turkey witnessed substantial growth. However, despite being the most popular meat, Beef observed a downward trend during the last decade.

According to the given illustration, starting with nearly 60 pounds, Beef captured the entire market by a significant rise until 1976, reaching a peak of about 90 pounds. After that, a sharp decline, while possessing an erratic behavior, plunged the rate to a low of 50 pounds by the year-end. By contrast, at the start, Pork stood at just 50 pounds and slipped down by 10 pounds by the period ending after observing a few fluctuations.

On the other hand, Broiler and Turkey started at the lowest values of 20 and 5 pounds. However, whilst the former sky-rocketed to surpass the Beef, at just below 60 pounds, the latter leveled off until 1982 before experiencing a slight uptick, with nearly 12 pounds.
