The maps depict the main modernization which has taken place in the town of Frenton from 1986 to 2012.
Overall, the town underwent a number of dramatic changes, the most important of which are the expansion of a hospital and the rearrangement of most of the area except school and library.
The playing fields in the south of the town were replaced with flats. The bank, located in the west of High Street and south of the school, was converted into a restaurant and the trees in the southwest of the town were cut down to make way for a technopark. One further development was the expansion of the hospital, located west of High Street.
The houses in the east of Frenton were also turned into blocks of flats and another smaller area of flats was constructed on the side. Furthermore, the café and the park east of High Street made way for a hotel and golf course, while the theatre and shops were transformed into a cinema and supermarket, respectively.
