The percentage of tourists to England who visited Brighton attractions
The line graph illustrates the proportion of visitors to the UK who travelled to four various places in Brighton between 1980 and 2010.
Overall, it is clear that while the percentage of travellers who visited to the Art Gallery and the Festival decreased, the figure for the others increased. Additionally, the proportion visiting to the Pavilion experienced the most dramatic change during the research period.
In 1980, the percentage of people visited the Festival was highest at exactly 30% and then went down slightly to about 25% in 1995. The figure for the Pavilion and the Art Gallery were lower at below 25%, about 21% respectively in 1980. In contrast, only at around 10% of tourists visited the Pier which was the lowest number at the same time. Despite some fluctuations, the figure for visitors who attended the Festival rose slightly by around 2% at the end of the period.
By 2010, there was a gradual decrease in the proportion of tourists to the Pavilion to around 30% after reaching a peak of about 45% in 1995. In addition, the number for the Art Gallery declined significantly to less than 10%, much lower than that of the Pavilion. Meanwhile, the percentage of visitors seeing Pier ACCOUNTED FOR over 20%, was much higher, compared with that of Art gallery.
