Next, Deforestation was at the second place with 30% percentage. After that, Over-cultivation came third with slightly different percentage from Deforestation, at 28%. Lastly, other factors contributed 7% to worldwide land degradation.
In each region, the main factors which caused land degradation the most and the least were different. It can be seen from the table that the main causes of land degradation for Oceania, Europe and North America were Over-Grazing (11.3%), Deforestation (9.8%) and Over-cultivation (3.3%), respectively. Whereas, the factors which caused land degradation the least were Over-cultivation (0%), Over-grazing (5.5%), and Deforestation (0.2%) for Oceania, Europe, and North-America, consecutively. Lastly, regions which experienced land degradation the most were Europe, Oceania, and North America, at 23%, 13%, and 5%, respectively.
