The pie charts represent the changes with the proportion of housing ownership and renting between 1991 and 2007.
Overall, the total number of houses available increased from 22 million houses in 1991 to 27 million houses in 2007. It is interesting to note that, the proportion of home ownership increased substantially while social renting and social housing reduced in its portion except for private renting.
The proportion for home ownership was accounted for the majority of housing types of about 60% in 1991. This has substantially increased to 70% of total housings. Concurrently, the privately rented homes had remained unchanged at 11%.
Social renting housing and social housing decreased substantially with its ownership portions from 1991 to 2007. Social renting housing accounted of nearly 23% of total houses in 1991 which decreased remarkably to 17% by 2007. Similarly, the proportion for social housing decreased substantially from about 6% to 2% from 1991 to 2007 respectively.
