The plans below show the site of an airport now and how it will look after redevelopment next year.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Southwest airport is facing a process of redevelopment which will be completed next year. Construction plans illustrating the redevelopment show that, in general, the airport will be greatly enlarged with more functions and features added.

Firstly, as presented by the plan, the size of the departure building would be three times as large as the current site. Three connected blocks for departure would each possess six departure gates, increasing the current number of gates from eight to eighteen. Concurrently, a sky train line which links the entrance of the departure hall and the joint of the three departure branches would be constructed to replace the current walkway. This could effectively facilitate passengers and save time.

Turning to the departure and arrival area, there is only a check-in and a cafe in the current airport, with no services operating in the arrivals’ hall. After the redevelopment, ATM machines, car-hiring services, bag-dropping services and an additional cafe would be located in the two halls. The new bag-dropping service could make it more convenient for travelers to get around in the airport, hands-free. Additionally, new shops would be opened on the pathway to the departure gates, allowing people to purchase items before leaving.
