Nowadays, a choice of city for a living is a controversial debate as some people think vertical cities are the best to lead a comfortable life, whereas their counterparts believe horizontal cities are finer with very few multi-storey buildings. This essay discusses both sides of the argument before reaching my view.
On the one hand, it is often said that vertical city is the best remedy for various issues. For instance, the ever-growing population might lead to uncomfortable life for the public. Therefore, the construction of the multi-storey building could be a possible solution. In addition, for living and doing regular tasks, good inhabitation is the not only thing but also the construction of the other areas require such as health infrastructure, educational sectors, and road infrastructure. Thus, it demands to increase taller apartments for the growing population, and the rest of the space could be utilized for other useful areas. Beijing, China, is the best example for skyscrapers to make the possible solution for the increasing population.
On the other hand, it might be said that horizontal city could be better to make safeguard for the public from natural calamities. To exemplify, Vizag City, Andhra Pradesh, India has the most single-storey houses, so, it might have the reason to tolerate from flooding which attacked last year. Therefore, the Andhra Pradesh government initiated a law to build single-storey buildings; specifically, natural calamity prone regions, despite permitted to construct multi-storey apartments. Similarly, Nepal country, which is the best example to build most of the single-storey houses because of an earthquake. Thus, it seems that horizontal cities might play as a safeguard to prevent natural calamities.
Having considered both sides of the arguments, even though horizontal cities might prevent natural calamities, the vertical cities are the best solution for various reasons; therefore, multi-storey buildings are the best to lead a comfortable life for the people.
