Some people believe that a person’s intelligence is inherited from the parents, while others believe that their environment is the main factor. Discuss these views. Which factor do you think is mostly responsible for intelligence?

The chart displays the number of people who migrated from four European nations to the USA from 1867 to 1907.

Overall, the number of migrants from Ireland to USA decreased steadily, while in Norway, it sharply increased after a decade and then significantly declined until 1907. In Spain and Greece, there was a gradual increase in the same recorded period.

Around 1100000 Irish migrated in 1867. Then, the number of people decreased slightly to approximately 1000000 after 20 years before steadily dropping to just over 800000 in 1907. On the other hand just over 800000 Norwegian citizens moved to USA. Ten years later, it sharply rose to about 1050000 and then dramatically declined to just about 6500000 in 1887 before slightly decreasing to around 550000 after 20 years.

In Spain, above 400000 people went to USA in 1867, it then considerably increased to just below 800000 in 1897 and remained relatively unchanged until the year 1907. Only about 100000 Greeks migrated to USA, which was the lowest recorded number of people who moved during the whole period. But, it then steadily increased to just under 600000 in 1897 and remained almost the same after a decade.
