Some people think that zoos are cruel and all the zoos should be closed. However, other people think that zoos are useful to protect the rare animals. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
People differ in their views about the necessity of zoos. While some argue that wild animals should not be lock in cages, many believe that zoos are indispensable in preserving many endangered species. From my point of view, I strongly advocate that zoos play a crucial role in protecting wildlife.
On the one hand, animals will suffer some detrimental impacts if they are kept in cages, especially the lack of freedom. Most of the animals in the zoos are dwellers of the wildlife and they have the instinct of living in their habitat or finding food. Compared to the provision of food from people and an artificial living environment, some might get bored and even died. In addition, many animals in zoos are used for the purpose of making money. For example, they are forced to perform to attract a bigger number of visitors. Therefore, it is brutal to both confine their freedom and mistreat them for other purposes at the same time.
In spite of the aforementioned arguments, I strongly agree that zoos will bring numerous advantages for both wild animals and humans. Many species, which are on the brink of extinction, can be well protected in the zoo as it will prevent them from poachers and predators. Particularly, rhinos, which have been hunted at a large scale due to their valuable horns, should be kept in a secured place like zoo. Another reason would be the educational value of the zoos. Keeping animals in a place where people can see would raise their awareness in protecting the wildlife. Moreover, this also enables scientists to have more information about the species and broaden human knowledge.
In conclusion, we cannot deny that both sides are well-grounded. Although confining animals in a small place would be cruel, zoos are vital in wildlife conservation.
