The table graph represents the number of employees and establishments in England and wales between 1851 and 1901.
Overall, the largest number of male and female were employed in the beginning of the period. However, number of factories were unstable compared to total employees.
In 1851, there were only 225 factories with 477,100 total employees after a decade, number of total employees dropped sharply to 291,780 while number of factories showed a slight increase to 227. In 1871, total number of employees and factories experienced dramatic changes, number of total employees dropped just over its half and number of factories rose to 622. After a decade, quantity of factories peaked at 721 and total employees declined slightly to 126,132. In 1891, number of factories started collapsing too and at the end of the period factories went down to the 600 and only 61.000 employees remained
