The table below gives information about the underground railway systems in six cities.

The table provides data about metro in London, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles, its open, length and transported passengers per yer in millions.
From given data is obvious, that underground railway system has a long history in Europe, namely in London and Paris (1863 and 1900), from the other hand, Los Angeles has the youngest subway from all mentioned cities (established in 2001).
In length, London's and Paris' underground rail is also the longest between other cities, with 394 and 199 kilometres respectively. Kyoto's metro has the shortest route with 11 kilometres.
However, underground trains transport more than two times more passengers yearly than metro in London ( 1927 millions and 775 millions). Paris' underground keeps its second position in this chart with 1191 millions passengers transported every year. The last developed subways in Kyoto and Los Angeles transport the less passengers with almost same numbers ( 45 and 50 millions a year).
