The table below shows the consumer durables (telephone, refrigerator, etc.) owned in Britain from 1972 to 1983.
Write a report for a university describing the information shown below.
The following table illustrates what percentage of Britain households owned 8 distinct consumer durables between 1972 to 1983.
As can be clearly observed from the table, the consumer durables which were held by Britain families can be divided into two groups based on the increase rates. The first group consists of television and vacuum cleaner which their increase rates were not high. Television climbed slightly from 93% of 1972 to 98% in 1983, while the rise of vacuum cleaner was about 8% at the same course.
The second group includes central heating, refrigerator, washing machine, and telephone, which far more remarkable increase was observable among this group. The percentage of central heating became virtually double from 37% in 1972 to 64% in 1983. Telephone followed the same patten as well (42% on 1972 to 77% of 1983). Turning to refrigerator and washing machine, although the former went up dramatically from 73% to 94% between 1972 and 1983, there was a significant rise in the latter which rose from 66% to 80% at the same period.
Overall, it is clear from the table that video and dishwasher were not surveyed at full course. The share of video was 18% in 1983, whereas dishwasher climbed slightly from 3% to 5% during 1978 till 1983. Meanwhile, all consumer durables experienced some kind of rise between 1972 and 1983.
