The table shows the proportions of pupils attending four secondary schools types between 2000 and 2009.
The table illustrates the percentage of students' enrollment at four secondary school types from 2000 to 2009. Overall, it can be seen that those studied in community schools went up significantly, while the proportions of students enrolling at three others types of schools gradually declined during that period of time.
In 2000, the proportion of pupils attended at community schools stood at 12% before it began to rise considerably for 46% during nine years. This contrasted to the percentage of three other school types that faced a decrease between 2000 and 2009. However, in the initial year students who enrolled at voluntary-controlled schools was the highest percentage, while others less than a third.
In the middle period, there was a slow drop in the proportion of those attended at specialist schools and grammar schools for about 1% and 5% respectively. This continued to decline until in the end of 2009, either the percentage of pupils enrollment at specialist and grammar schools were no more than 2%. Although the proportion of voluntary-controlled dropped there was a significant decrease from the initial year until 2009 for about more than a half.
