The table provides information about four sports in terms of their attendance and total earnings. The pie charts compare different sources of revenue of ice hockey and football.
Overall, there seems to be no clear link between the number of attendees and the amount of money earned for all 4 sports. Also, it is noteworthy that while most of ice hockey's earning comes from tickets, TV is the predominant source of revenue for football.
Looking at the table in detail reveals that while attendance for baseball reaches 73 million, the sport only earns 10 billion. In comparison, football, which only attracts 17 million attendees earns up to 13 billion in revenue. As for basketball and ice hockey, the two sports draw in 22 million attendees but the former outearns the latter by 1 billion.
Regarding sources of earning, nearly half of ice hockey's revenue comes from tickets, which is more than double the figure for concessions (22%). TV makes up for about one fifth while the proportion for concessions is only 13 percent. By contrast, TV is the main earner for football, comprising 38% of the total income, while concessions earn the least. In addition, earnings by concessions and sponsorship are more comparable, standing at 26% and 22%, respectively.
