Essay topics:

The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.

The pie charts compare the changes in yearly spending in 5 different categories in one school in the UK in three separate years.

Overall, the school spent the most on teachers' salaries in the given years. It is also noticeable that the expenditure on insurance increased steadily as opposed to employees' wages, which decreased. The annual spending on furniture and equipment and resources fluctuated throughout the period.

In 1981, the school spent 40% of its budget on teachers' salaries after which the figure rose to a half in 1991, before a slight drop to 45% in 2001. The spending on insurance went up significantly by four folds in 2001 at 8% from its original number. By contrast, the allocation of budget on other workers salaries dropped continuously from 28% in 1981 to 15% in 2001.

The expenditure on furniture and equipment declined by 10% to 5% in 1991 but there was a dramatic growth to almost a quarter in 2001. With regard to resources, the annual budget allocation started at 15% and went up to a fifth in 1991, then subsequently fell to 9% in 2001.
