urban male and female literacy rates and rural male and female literacy rate comparison in 2013, 2015, and 2017
The bar graph represents the percentage differences in literacy rates of Indian people in 2013, 2015 and in 2017. It is categorized according their sex and whether they live in urban or rural areas.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that proportion of literacy rates are more among male compared to female. In addition, people who are living in urban areas have more reading and writing skills than rural people
With regards to men, the level of literacy rates are more among the people who are living in the city. While the literacy level has raised from 57.85% to 77.15% in rural parts over three years, the urban literacy rates has gradually increased from 81.09 to 88.9 percent over a period.
When comparing the female literacy rates between urban and rural counterparts, it is clearly seen that urban women are more eligible to read and write than rural women. When rural female literacy level reached to 57.93% from 30.62% in 2017, the urban female has crossed 79.11% in 2017.
