Writing task 1: The chart below shows the percentage of female members of parliament in 5 European countries from 2000 to 2012

The line graph illustrates the proportion of female parliament members in five different nations in Europe between 2000 and 2012
In general, the figures for almost nations increased in all the time surveyed. In addition, Germany and Italy were two nations where the percentage of female members of parliament were higher than that of other countries.
In the year 2000, around 23% of parliament members in Italy was female, compared with over 36% in Germany. By 2012, the percentage of female members of parliament in Italy had increased to reach a peak of over 37% in 2010. In comparison. the figures for Germany were lower than that of Italy in almost the period except for the period from 2010 to 2012. Similar to Italy, the proportion of female parliament members in Germany was on a rise to reach the highest point at the end of the period, at nearly 40%.
Likewise, the 12-year period witnessed a sharp rise in the percentage of women taking charge in parliament in France and the UK. Over 3% and 26% of parliament members were women in France and the UK respectively. The figures for both nations had been on an increase for the next 12 years to reach a peak of over 33% and 23% in France and the UK in turn in 2012. By contrast. the rate for Belgium was 15% in 2000, and then rose to nearly 25% in 2008 before declining to under 23% in the final year.
