The bar chart illustrates the monthly expenditures on food, gas and clothing of a household in the USA in 2010. Overall what stands out from the chart is that the amount of spendings fluctuated in the given year as mentioned in the question.
To begin, the most money was spent on food in January at around $500. Even though the rate of expenditure increased gradually in the following month, there was a significant drop to approximately $300, which constituted the least spending among all other items for the month of April.
With regard to gas, it showed an opposite trend compared to food. Having remained fluctuated for first three months, the final month witnessed a marked rise to just under $600 as opposed to nearly $350 at the beginning of a month. Now, turning to clothing, it began at just over $200, making it the lowest expenditure in January. However, in the following month, the family spent the same amount as the gas around $550 that was more than double of the investment of a starting month. But, the figure fell considerably in March followed by a sharp rise in the final month to about 650 dollars.
