The graph compares the number of cars stolen in Great Britain, Sweden, France and Canada from 1990 to 1999 (measured in thefts per 1000 vehicles). Overall, it can be seen that, over the period as a whole, car theft was highest in Great Britain throughout as compared to the other three countries. Moreover, Sweden saw a significant increase in the trend over the years.
At the beginning of time frame, Great Britain was at top for having the maximum car theft rate for that year and it reached its peak in 1996 to around 20 thefts per 1000. However, a gradual decline was noted after this, finishing the period at approximately 17 thefts.
In contrast, the number of stolen vehicles in the remaining three countries, for the majority of time frame, remained less than 10 and they followed a fairly similar pattern. Though, unlike France or Canada, Sweden experienced a drastic rise in it's trend from 1995 onwards, so that by about 1999 it had reached to almost 14 per 1000 vehicles.
