The chart below shows the number of applicants from four different countries in universities in a European country. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.
The bar graph compares the number of people from China, Japan, the USA and Russia in universities applying to join one research from 2004 to 2008. It can be clearly seen that more and more applicants from these countries except for China tended to apply for this research.
Based on the data of 2004, the number of applicants from China accounted for the largest part, reaching approximately 28K, followed by that in the USA. However, the number of Russian applicants was the least, only one tenth the number of that in China.
From 2004 to 2005, the number of people applying for this research from China and Russia showed a significant decrease, while the number of American applicants increased at the same time. Meanwhile, the number of applicants from Japan stabilised at roughly 7500.
After 2005, the patterns in the change of the applicants in the USA, Japan and Russia were much similar distributed: all of them had slight increases in these 4 years. Furthermore, the largest proportion had been American applicants instead of Chinese applicants, the number of which had decreased to 18K.
