After being admitted to high school, my friends started to participate in many extra-curricular activities to earn experiences while I could not find any club or organization that suited me. I am really into books but my applications to a reading organization were turned down twice. Therefore, I felt inferior to my friends. Then, I began to think about my strengths and interests a lot. I realized that there is no point comparing myself with anyone else. From then on, instead of looking at others’ achievements, I have taken pride in my own improvements. After a year trying to do my best, I am satisfied with both good and bad results and I want to help people who have the same problem as me.
There are many high school students who are not confident. They think they are falling behind their peers since they do not have a ‘real talent’. Because of this, they hesitate to choose a major or decide what to do in future. In order to solve the problem, in my opinion, these students need people that appreciate their abilities. For this reason, I decided to listen and encourage a close friend of mine. I usually recommend her books or videos about self esteem. Moreover, I always encourage her to take part in activities that she think they are beyond her abilities. Although it will take a longer time to have the best outcomes, we are both satisfied with progresses we have made.
