Some people think that art is an essential subject for children at school, while others think that it is a waste of time.
Discuss both sides and give your opinion.
According to a few artwork is a much-needed subject at the school level, however, there are others who opine that it is useless as a subject. This essay believes that how crucial arts integration is to creating well-rounded, well-prepared learners and leaders.
Art education helps foster a positive culture and climate in schools. When educational institutions amalgamate creative learning across the curriculum, disciplinary referrals decreases and effectiveness of instructions and teacher’s ability to meet the needs of all students increases. Learning a musical instrument, creating a painting, learning dance are important pursuits for pupils growth and improvement. To exemplify, a report by American For Arts state that young people who participate regularly in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievements than the children who are kept away from art education.
Although, art, in virtually all of it’s forms, is one of the most fascinating of educational subjects, yet, it faces inhibitions among juniors. The most important reason for this practice is that subjects like science and maths equips and prepares students with essential skills that makes them employable. For instance, the number of engineering colleges in UK are more than double in comparison with the list of institutes in art & culture. Hence, due to common belief that high paying jobs in the stream of engineering, medicine and space exploration would need academically a scientific background.
To conclude, Although art subjects still not a popular choice among students and parents, it is imperative to include art subject in school curriculum because it enhances an overall creativity and essential intellectual skills among children which makes them a complete human being.
