Write a letter to the governor of a local city council who is planning to pull down a historical building in your local area due to the lack of money to repair it. Explain:
Why the building is important?
What can be done with it in future?
How to raise money for repairing it?
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my views in regards to your decision of demolishing an ancient building i.e. "The Fort". I understand that the council has arrived at the decision after a thoughtful deliberation and as a result of non-availability of funds for the maintenance. But there are several social and emotional aspects attached to this monument.
Let me explain to you that this is a unique piece of construction due to its structure & design and only of its kind remain. It holds a significant importance in the history of our nation as this was used in monitoring the city walls and was paramount in the defense of the locality. Our ancestors had told us great stories about the pivotal role of this structure whenever the invaders raid the old city.
I would like to make a few suggestions by which this historical building can be saved. For example, the council can turn it to an exhibition center by displaying the old artifacts related to this building. Another use of this could be a "Public Library", as a result, the youth of the locality can be drawn towards reading and learning about this splendid piece of construction.
The council can seek support from the central government for the rehabilitation. Alternatively, the residents of the locality can contribute to preserving this magnificent fort and I am happy to donate $1000 for it. I can certainly urge the people around my circle to fund the conservation. I hope that you will reconsider the decision by implementing proposed solutions.
Thanking you in anticipation
Yours faithfully,
