Greetings Sir, I hope the state missive finds you in the very best. It is imperative to impart the notion that this letter entails a request for an extension in date of joining. I was expected to join your good office on August 15, 2016, which will not be possible now. The reasons for the aforestated request are highlighted hereunder.
Firstly, I had a fever last week due to which I was unable to attend office. Whereas, there was an important assignment/task which was pending. Moreover, I feel that it is my moral responsibility to accomplish the subject task before leaving.
Secondly, my employer has advised me to complete the task assignment in all respect and submit. Furthermore, It is part of my contract to finish the assigned tasks before submitting the resignation. Consequently, it would take one more week to complete the same.
In summation, I shall be grateful on my part if the request supra can kindly be accommodated and extension of one week can be provided. This means that revised joining date would be August 22, 2016. The inconvenience caused is highly regretted. Hope to hearing from you soon. Many thanks for your time.
