Writing task 1 (a letter)
You live in a rental accommodation. Due to a recent bad weather event there was a small amount of damage to your apartment. Write a letter to your landlord and say
– What was damaged and why?
– How is this damage causing you a problem?
– What would you like your landlord to do about it?
Dear Peter,
Hope this letter finds you well as all faced hurricane last week. I am Divya, your tenant living in your apartment number 12 in New South Street. Last week’s weather due to hurricane wrecked a huge damage to almost all coastal properties in Houston. I am writing this letter to inform you that the damage to my house was much more severe and it needs to be urgently fixed.
Strong winds from the North done a heavily damage to city's infrastructure in general and to this house in particular. The storm somehow affected the outer walls and destroyed a portion of the house’s heating system. Consequently, the drawing room’s and bathroom’s heating systems are not working. Moreover, a few wide cracks have appeared in the house’s roof.
Since the city is cold outside, and cracks in the structure are dangerous, I believe you need to urgently fix this issue. Please call a heating systems contractor and a construction contractor, and get the repair estimate prepared quickly. I am sure the property is insured against damage caused by weather. The insurance company will release the funds immediately.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Divya
