You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
Although you have never formally studied computing, you have always been interested in computers. You have just read about a computer course that really interests you, but it is only for people who have completed an elementary course.
Write a letter to the college enrolment officer. In your letter
* explain why you are writing
* describe your circumstances
* ask if a special exception can be made for you so you can enrol in the course
You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows:
Dear
You should write at least 150 words.
Dear Mr. Stephen,
I am writing to you with regards to an advertisement that you have posted in Times newspaper about a computer course. The course has really made me exited mainly because of the fact that its agenda has advanced Microsoft Excel functions and Microsoft Powerpoint features. I am very fond of Excel and am already aware of many functions inside it. But, I am afraid I have not done any elementary course in computers.
I already have good hands on experience working on computers because during my graduation, I worked as a part-time librarian in the evenings and weekends. The library had stored all the details of its books on computers in the form of excel. I was amazed at using Microsoft Excel and the features it provides like pivoting and searching using vlookups. I even learned macros from one of my colleagues in the library who was actually a first year computer student. This has increased my interest in Microsoft Excel. I also have some experience on Powerpoint from my last year graduation when I had to prepare for my presentations.
As you can see that I already have good knowledge and some experience working with computers, I request you to give me a special exception to enrol for this course. I am also ready to come down for an interview, incase if you want to check my existing knowledge on computers.
Thank you for your consideration.
Thanks,
Deepti
