You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You should write at least 150 words.
You are an international student and have borrowed a book from the local public library. You left the book on a bus and when you contacted the bus company, they could not find it.
Write a letter to the librarian explaining the situation and asking what you should do.
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir,
I am active member of your library and writing this letter to inform you about the borrowed book which I lost on last Saturday.
After getting the book issued, I took the bus from city centre to old bridge. In the bus, there were few passengers and I seated near to rear gate. I do remember trying to open the book but incessant rain diverted my mind. On reaching home, I curiously wanted to read book so I tried to take out from bag and at that time I realized that book was no more in the bag. Thereupon, I contacted lost and found department of Aone bus service line and lodged about misplaced book. The officer from bus department informed that all lost item are gathered at one central place and returned within three days after basic identification. Yesterday, I received call from the department confirmed that no such book was found in the bus I traveled.
I tried to reach library staff on Monday but found that the day is weekly off for library. I am Nottingam university student from India and completing my course on Tuesday and traveling back to India on same evening. Therefore, I would not be able to discuss in person about the lost books. I would like to know what can be done in this situation and how can it be compensated.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Raj
