You want to take a course related to your work. Write a letter to your employer.
In your letter, you should:
describe what the course is
explain how it will benefit to the company
suggest how to arrange time for it.
Dear Mr. Mike Green,
I am writing this letter to request you a permission to join a course about the finite element analysis using a recently developed software known as Abaqus. The Abaqus is very powerful software that is mainly developed to assess the crack tip plastic field especially on metallic materials such as Aluminum.
I found that this software can be very important in our work. Firstly, since we are working on fracture mechanic of Aluminum material, we can employ this software to analyse the crack tip plastic stress field which is a very critical parameter of fracture mechanics. As you know that the software that we are using now has no ability to simulate crack tip plastic field, adopting Abaqus would certainly facilitate our investigation on fracture in Aluminum. Secondly, the data processing of the software is tenfold faster than our current software; thus we can save lot of time.
The course is on every Friday for three month. Therefore, I would need holiday on each Friday for three consecutive months.
I am looking forward to hearing a positive response from you.
Yours sincerely,
Dr AR. Agrawal
