Essay topics:
Art is considered an important part of society as well as an expression of a culture Do you think it s important for children to be taught art Do you think students should be encouraged to focus on art rather than other subjects

Whenever the term extracurricular comes in the picture, art is given the least importance. It is often believed that there are many other important skills and subject areas which should be valued and opted by students. However, many others claim that art symbolizes the country's culture and is an indispensable part of society. Now the question arises: should art be a mandatory skill for students? In my view, although core subjects are extremely important from the perspective of the future, the immense value of art subjects should never be overlooked. This essay will emphasize each aspect in detail before reaching a balanced approach.

It is an undeniable fact that learning art not only improves creativity but also enhances thinking skills, which further helps in achieving higher scores academically. In addition, students boost their self-confidence and learn to express their emotions fully by performing publically in the form of dance, art, play, or music. For example, it can be seen that kids who are artistically sharp are more intellectual in their learning approach. Furthermore, including an additional skill helps academically weaker students to decide vocation as per their art skill.

On the contrary, a section of society opposes the concept of art education and instead believes that art is just a waste of time unless it targets one's future goals and career. Moreover, the core subjects such as Maths, Science, English, and Social science are more demanding and career-oriented, hence should be more focused. Also, forcing a student to join a class that lacks passion is complete injustice. For instance, a student who is more interested in decoding will learn nothing in an art class. So, students should be given a free-will to decide an activity of their choice.

To conclude, views on encouraging children to pursue art along with the core subjects vary largely. However, in my view, art plays a vital role in connecting society to our rich cultural heritage. Hence, rather than announcing art as a compulsory skill, it should be taken ahead as after school or a club activity, which should be kept open for everyone.
