the line graph gives information about the percentage of
how often the elderly people in the US enjoy free time
activities and how this rate changed over 30 years from
1980 and 2010.
What stands out from the graph is that there were 2
opposite trends for these 5 figures. While the
proportion of square time activities such as hiking,
reading, and surfing the internet witnessed a progress,
elderly people who participate in watching tv and
theater reduced slightly. It’s noticeable that the data for
hiking was the highest percentage in the last year of the
chart.
Starting at quite with watching tv, which was the most
popular in the first 20 years, but then it suddenly
decreased in the last year, by about 60%. In addition,
after experencing a sharp decline from 1980 to 1990,
theatre activity started to climb up considerably about
nearly 50% at the last decade.
Turning to these 3 others, the figure for surfing the
internet was only 5%, which was the least interest in the
first year, but then it progressed gradually from 5% to
nearly 20% between 1980 and 2000. in the last 10 years,
it continued to go up significantly to about 50%.
whereas, starting at 30% with reading, which was higher
than the figure for hiking, at 10%. both of 2 data
improved steadily and reached at 40% together in 1990.
from 1990 to 2010, old people who enjoy hiking
continued improve significantly at 80%, which was the
highest point of the chart. About reading, after
experencing a considerable reduce, it continued to
progress sharply to about 50%
