The issue of punishing children is one that needs to be looked at carefully. Over the past few years, there has been a growing body of opinion that it is critical for kids and teenagers to know the difference between right and wrong at an early age and punishment is vital to help them learn this distinction. Many people hold the opinion that parents and teachers should not punish children. However, I completely agree with the opinion that parents and teachers should use proper punishments to help children understand morality and ethics, and in this essay, I will present the reason for my view, which is that society will benefit from those children who learn the difference between right and wrong at an early age. Besides, appropriate punishments should be applied to teach children good behavior.
On the one hand, the most compelling reason for holding my view is that society will benefit from those children who can distinguish between good and bad behavior. This is due to the fact that if children learn to differentiate right and wrong at an early age, they will understand morality and ethics. A good example of this is that when students learn that taking something that does not belong to them is bad behavior, they will never steal anything in the future. That is why teaching morality would increase the number of well-rounded people and create a greater source of good members for society, which would bring more advantages to the country. In short, it helps to demonstrate that when children learn courses related to morality and ethics in schools, they will become good citizens for society in the future.
On the other hand, people usually think punishments are violence. It is true that some traditional families are still using rods to penalize their children. Nevertheless, I think there are some proper punishments that not only are non-violent but also help children learn their lessons. For example, parents and teachers can use a reward system to guide their children to adopt proper behaviors. This means that when children have not completed their assignments or housework, they are not allowed to play games or hang out with friends. As a result, they will try to complete their tasks to get their rewards. In short, violent punishments are not the correct way to teach children about right and wrong, so parents and teachers should use punishments that help children learn from their mistakes so they can remember the lesson.
By way of conclusion, I believe that teaching children to differentiate between right and wrong at an early age will create a greater source of well-rounded individuals for society in the long run, and parents and teachers should focus on helping children learn lessons from their mistakes instead of punishing them with violent behavior. Therefore, it seems to me that it is crucial for children to understand morality and ethics at a young age, and there are some proper punishments to help them learn this distinction.
