Smoking, excessive drinking, gambling, and living a life of inactivity are all bad habits. Even though we know they are hazardous for us, most of us continue to engage in them. Why so?
According to a poll conducted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unhealthy behaviors are responsible for over half of all fatalities in this nation. With18% perished from cigarettes, 16.1% from inactivity and poor dietary habits, and 3.5% from alcohol and beer. The facts presented above cause worry and dread in people.
Here are some of the reasons.
First and foremost, they give the necessary comfort. Our minds are wired to function based on a reward criterion, and that reward is comfort. That is why we continue to engage in poor behavior, and it is difficult to break the cycle.
Consider smoking. Although they are aware that smoking is extremely damaging to their health, they are unable to quit for an extended period because they smoke whenever they are bored or under job pressure.
Second, people have terrible routines as well. If society endorses a bad habit, people will typically rationalize it. We have always followed the majority. Know that doing so is harmful to your health and can endanger your life. But since we see others accomplishing it, we believe we can as well.
The influence of unhealthy behaviors is one of the causes of knowing it is bad for your health but yet doing it. If we continue to do wrong things in our life without quitting, we will face increasingly significant repercussions. The first negative impact to highlight is health. Smoking, drinking alcohol, staying out late, eating junk food, being too lazy to exercise, and working too hard...... may lead to a variety of severe diseases such as cancer, neurasthenia, pain in the abdomen, and so on.
So how to stop it? Here are several ideas that we can alter if we truly want to and strive hard enough, we can alter it.
To begin, you must recognize your harmful behaviors and how frequently you engage in them. It is also critical to comprehend the condition and its causes. And only then can it be cured.
Next, make a promise to yourself that you will break those negative habits. Only then will we attempt it; otherwise, you may quickly become entangled in them due to a lack of resolve.
Last but not least, you will require perseverance. Because these behaviors have been with you for a long time. As a result, leaving will be extremely tough. As a result, you must continue adopting solutions to progressively prevent and eliminate them.
