"To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world." This topic asserts that a foreign language should be learned; to work and travel in foreign country or to develop cognitive skills? In this topic, I will examine this question from both sides with some illustrations and give my opinion by the end.
To commence with, there are some people who says that travelling and working is the only reasons to learn a foreign language. To strengthen their point they had claimed that it has helped people to communicate more easily with the native people of that country which further helped them to interact with more people. Moreover, it has not only helped them to get familiar but also provide them an opportunity to get a white collar jobs in the foreign countries. In addition to this, learning a foreign language has been a boon for persons; who want to explore the culture and museums of the foreign countries.
However, some people believe that travelling and working are not the only reasons for learning a foreign language. Some people learn a foreign language because they want to be a bilingual because they have been considered as more smarter. Moreover, bilingual person has not only smarter brain but can also appreciate a diverse culture. Further, bilingual people have a key to work; either as a diplomats or translators. In addition, many people learn a foreign language for their studies. When students learn a foreign language they can understand and appreciate diverse culture. A best epitome of this IELTS or TOEFL certificate which has been considered as mandatory for every student those who want to study.
In conclusion, many people have been studying a foreign language while, some have learned to work or travel in foreign countries and, others use this language to develop: cognitive skills, personal skills and interpersonal skills as well.
