Communal online encyclopedias represent one of the latest resources to be found on the Internet. They are in many respects like traditional printed encyclopedias collections of articles on various subjects. What is specific to these online encyclopedias, however, is that any Internet user can contribute a new article or make an editorial change in an existing one. As a result, the encyclopedia is authored by the whole community of Internet users.
communal online encyclopedias are now being used in internet. they are wrriten by whole community of internet users sharing their knowledge and perspectives over different topics. however, comparing to traditional encyclopedias, there are some problems which are not quite serious considering the benefits of communal online encyclopedias.
First of all, traditional encyclopedias were written by trained experts but in these communal encyclopedias, the writers doen not necessarily trained for writing. Although, these online sources have more chance to be corrected by other people, despite old versions with mistakes remaining for decades.
Secondly, online sources can be a target for hackers or vandals to change or delete the contents in order to fabricate the informations. however, online websites managed some rules to avoid these situations and crucial facts are not able to be changed and they are read-only for most of the users.
Last but not least, there are many topics discussed in these online sources but it does not mean to discuss unimportant topics and let the important ones vanish. it means because of the more space exists in online versions than tradtional ones, many topics can be disscussed which did not have the chance to be proposed before. Thus, the diversity of subjects disscussed in online encyclopediad are quite more than traditional versions.
