Everyone has the desire to be successful. As the old saying goes, "Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.” Though hard work is definitely the key element to success, there are still other “added” elements, such as luck. From my view of point, I disagree with the statement that “when people succeed, it is entirely because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with their success.” I feel this way for two reasons, which I will explore in the following essay.
First, it is impossible for us to do anything successfully without luck. We are kind of experiencing something like this. If you got a full score on the final exam, usually, we don’t know every answer actually, sometimes it was just because we guess the right answer. And for those smart person who always knows the answers in their tests, they should be grateful to not mark the wrong answer on the answer sheet. We cannot promise that what’s happening **to** yourself every day **is accompanied by** luck. However, we are certain that every success must be accompanied by a little luck. That’s why you are successful.
Second, hard work can bring us luck. Therefore, it is hard to say that luck has nothing to do with success. Believe it or not, if we live without luck, our life will be more miserable than we thought. The reason is, there is a positive loop between hard work and luck. Once we leave the loop, we may think negatively easily. You may hear of a law, which is called "law of attraction”. Positive thoughts bring positive results into a person's life. If you often think my hard work is not the only reason I succeed, luck may play a role as well. Then you will get luckier than before. This is the “law of attraction”.
In conclusion, we can understand the relationship between hard work and luck. That’s why I stand for the statement that “when people succeed, besides hard work, luck has something to do with their success.”
