I don´t agree that progress is always good. It mainly depends in what direction the progress is going. For example, in Nazi Germany impressive progresses were made towards a xenophobic society where populism, intolerance and lack of respect to the human kind reigned. Even though, other progresses were made a side, that were positive, like economic development, scientific devolpment and the first campain agains smoking (tobacco). The same could be said of the Soviet union, in which a large amount of atrocities were made in order to compete with the USA and to prove that comunism was the "real deal". Nevertheless, I belive that one society or individual has to progress in order to evolve and be better in the future, without progress we eould still be cave man, but attention has to be payed to where that progress is leading to and its consequences.
