On the other hand, the professor points out that ethanol is produced from some parts of plants that are not eaten by animals. So, ethanol as a fuel has nothing to do with reducing animal food sources.
Finally, the author believes that ethanol is a very prohibitive fuel and is not able to compete with gasoline in price. Not surprisingly, the lecturer takes issue with this assertion by contending that if ethanol become a widespread fuel and people start buying it, its cost will drop up to 40%. Even without the government's support, its price would be affordable for most people.
