Jane
The writer believes that a portrait used as an illustration in an edition of Jane Austen is herself, while the speaker strongly disagrees with it by offering counterevidence.
First, the writer aruges that the fact that her family approved using the portrait as an illustration means that it is Jane Austen. However, the speaker strongly disagrees with it, because when the family approved using the painting, it had been already 70 years after Austen's death and no one saw her in real life, which means they are not qualified to prove that the painting is a drawing of her.
Secondly, the writer said that because the face in the portrait resembles the one in Cassandra's sketch. Again, the speaker rebuts it because it could be one of Jane Austen's relatives who resembles her.
Third, the writer makes the point that style of the painting shows that is was painted when Austen was teenager. On the other hand, the speaker disproves it because the canvas used for the painting was sold when Austen was already 27, which shows that the teenager in the painting cannot be Jane Austen.
