organic food
According to the text, organically grown food has gained momentum in the last years due to the eco-friendly and health properties organic produce has. However, as it is stated in the lecture, traditional crop produce chemicals do not harm the environment as people tend to believe, the professor says that farm “chems” have not been proven to be harmful to the ecosystem and that the amount of this “man-made” chemicals is not noxius to humans either.
Second, in the lecture is mentioned that chem-using farms are harmful to the environment and organic farms aren’t, but that is inaccurate. In the lecture, the professor points that both types of farm could cause harm to their surroundings if not well managed.
There’s also the belief that the pesticides used in traditional farms can pollute water sources and rivers, due to the chemicals running down from the leaves to the earth and so forth. This cannot be further from the truth. In fact, as the professor stated in her lecture, this pesticides are manufactured to target certain bugs and weeds specifically and there are even laws that prohibit and penalize such events with steep fines.
