ecotourism
Green tourism is seen as an all positive endeavor, in the lecture, it was mentioned that not only eco-tourism helps the people who lives in a eco-tourism oriented town or vile, it generates jobs and also makes the government take action to preserve an protect the environment, and endangered species within the area.
But that is not completely correct. In the audio, its mentioned that although jobs are created in this green tourism centered places, local people tend to get the more menial and worse paying jobs of all; also, there is the problem with cultural pollution. With large quantities of tourists pouring in the locality (added to the amount of population that would come seeking jobs), their customs and culture is bound to change and be affected by our own western culture.
Finally, the professor says in her lecture that, even though green tourism has less impact than other enterprises, it doesn’t mean it won’t affect the environment at all.
Roads will have to be made and that no only can stress out a fragile ecosystem, but roads might make it easy for poachers to further increase their illegal hunting and exploitation of natural resources.
