Sending humans to Mars

Essay topics:

Sending humans to Mars

Te reading passage explains three problems that the astronauts confront when they want to go to Mars. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas discussed by the reading passage dubious and suggests some solutions to refute them all.
First, the reading passage claims that bringing enough food, water, and oxygen which are important for the crew creates problems because of restriction in the space of the vehicles. Conversely, the speaker underlines the fact that the crew can use hydroponic to cultivate their food in the space. In addition, they can use this system to recycle water. Also, the space vehicle has a technology to absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen from it. Therefore, the crew will not have problems related to the resources that they need.
Furthermore, the author asserts that zero-gravity causes problems to the human body in that long period. On the contrary, the professor dismisses this idea due to the fact that humans have experiences in living many months in the space stations. They do regular exercises to protect their body from the negative effect of zero-gravity.
Finally, the reading passage believes that the astronauts might expose to the space radiation released by the sun. The lecturer, on the other hand, makes the argument that the sun releases harmful radiation only in short periods. So, they can build a small shield that does not add considerable weight to the ship. In normal times, the crews do not need to protect themselves. However, by using equipment that allows them to predict the sun's activity level, in the periods that the sun releases harmful radiation they can protect themselves by using this small shield.
