The passage asserts that smart cars provide safer, faster and cheaper driving for the human. The lecture, however, introduces some evidences that undermine such clam.
First, the passage claims that smart cars my be protected a lot of accidents since the smart cars will be equipped with a bundle of advanced sensors which have computerizing program for controlling any blocks and obstacles. The professor casts doubt on this point by saying that smart cars get some accidents because advanced devices my be failed sometimes. The cars are close to each other, and it contributes to harder accidents.
Second, the smart cars contribute to less traffic problems reasoning that the cars can follow each other nearly: therefore, they can increase highway speed and reduce commuting times, as the author points, is repudiated by the lecturer. She mentions that the smart cars cannot diminish traffic jam and commuting time because smart car driving is easier, and people more use of the their cars. That increases traffic jam and commuting time.
Third, the reading points out the smart cars reduce cost of driving. This technology is smarts and drives carefully: hence, drivers spend less money for repairing and replacing parts. In contrast, the speaking says that global smart car technology is expensive like advanced sensors. Also, advanced devices repairing and replacing are more expensive than traditional repairing and replacing parts.
