Essay topics:

In some nations, students do not pay any tuition to attend universities. However, in other nations, students must  pay to attend universities, and the cost of university tuition can be high. Do you believe that all nations should use taxes to fully fund universities so that students can study for free?

Education, the foundation of countries, is playing more and more role in the development of a person. Some people claim that all nations should provide fund to universities using taxes in order to free tuition for students. However, I disagree with this statement.

Paying their universities’ costs contributes to their studies. Unsurprisingly, it is common that the majority of people will not cherish the things that they get easily. Therefore, studying for free might undermine their motivation to cherish the chance to universities, let alone studying hard. Take my own experience as an example. Having difficulties in mathematics when I was in 14 years old, I signed on a renowned extracurricular class which was expensive, equivalent to one month salary of my mother. Faced to so high charge, I concentrated on the lecture and did not waste one minute in class. Fortunately, at the end of the semester, I got a great advance in the math exam because of high concentration and hard studying brought by high extracurricular tuition fees. In contrast, although the school sometimes spend a lot of money to invite experts to us lecture and we could listen without paying, I often distracted by other things, such as chatting on Facebook, reading novels, or reading news. Therefore, universities fees is beneficial to high study efficiency and quality.

Paying college tuition helps boost work experience. In order to get school fees, a great of people will choose to do a part time job which offers them an advantage in future job search such as related work experience or good quality. Take my brother’s experience as an example, he had to do one or two part-time job in school to get enough money for tuition. As majoring in computer science, his skills such as writing code, optimize code, and deal with bug, was honed greatly during a variety of part-time jobs. Therefore, when he was interviewing for a job in his senior year, he got many offers from many big technology companies thanks to the precious experience and proficient coding skills. On the contrary, if he did not need to pay for the university fees, he would have no so much work experience.

Admittedly, it is true that not every student have enough money to pay for college. It is possible that some talent student might lost the chance to study in universities due to expensive tuition. However, most of students could do part-time job to save money or get loan from bank. As long as we study hard, I believe they must be able to repay the loan after graduation.
