stein influential writing style
The reading and the lecture are both about steins works impact on these day writing style. Whereas the author of the reading states that Stein`s work are having less influence to writing style compare to other autor such as Fitzgerald, Cumings, and Pound, on the other hand the lecturer suggests that the text author being bias about steins' work and it shows that the writer might be just not into Stein's work. The lecturer casts doubt on the main points made in the reading by providing two/three reasons.
First of all, according to the reading, due to the lack of punctuation that been used by stein, lead some confusion on the reader interpretation. However, the lecturer disputes this point. she says that steins consider the punctuation as an unecesary tool. Furthermore, she mentions that stein’s decision to omit punctuation from her work was not merely a way to make her writing more difficult to follow, The professor is of the opinion that stein’s view is both valid and unique, one that we should contemplate carefully.
Secondly, the reading states that using on cubism concepts is showing an created inaccessible emotion or meaning. Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes this argument.she argues that applying cubism style in writing enrich the writing style and explore the imagination of the reader. In addition, she brings up the possibility of stein’s impact on later poets. she argues that since stein’s day, poetry has shifted to rely more heavily on the sounds of words used, rather than their meaning, and that stein was likely a significant influence on that change.
Finally, the reading claims that Stein's style didn't show a huge influence to other author. On the other hand, the lecturer believe that her work did serve a diverse of writing style that give a significant impact to other writer. she thinks that stein directly affected the writing style of Hemingway. that provides clear evidence of stein’s importance in the development of literature at the time. Hemingway writing style on choosing simple word and repetition on word adopted from stein style.
In conclusion, although the reading and the lecture are both about stein's influential writing style , the three main points made in the reading are effectively challenged by the lecturer.
