summarize the points made in the lecture about the turtle excluder device used to protect turtles, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the difficulties mentioned in the reading about turtle excluder device.
The reading discusses the difficulties with a new invention called turtle excluder device for preserving the sea turtles population. However, the professor in lecture disagrees with these satisfactions and gives three reasons to refute each of the statements presented in the reading section respectively.
First, the article states that the number of turtles trapped inside in these excluder devices are so low which can be ignored virtually. But, in the lecture, professor insists that even though the number of turtles got by shrimp hunters' nets are small, there are thousands of boats working in this area and as a result, actually many turtles would be catched each year by those nets. She believes that these two issues must be considered as two generall separate items in order to be compared correctly.
Second, the passage argues about various alternative methods which can be implemented for sea turtles protection like time frames of sea hunting. In contrary, she thinks that this approach is mostly problematic, since there could be less control on boats in alternative methods proposed. Many patrol boats and guards would be needed to manage thousands of fishing boats work during a year.
Third, the reading says that there are some problems with this device when the boats face larger turtles that can not pass the nets easily. On the other hand, professor indicates that these devices can be built in larger dimonsions and they have the ability to be easily modified for numerous situations.
