Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge specific points made in the reading passage.
The lecture and the reading presents two contrasting views on Roccoco art. On one hand, the text condemns the work of Roccoco artists, on other, the lecturer has counter acted this claim by giving relevant examples.
First of all, the lecturer brings out the point that eventhough, Roccoco artists focussed on the weathly class, they were not alone in doing so. There were lot other artists who attracted the wealthy audiences. Additionally, the evidence is strenghtened by the fact that Roccoco arts were mostly done in churches which symbolises all the class of economic ladder. Clearly, this challenges the view presented in the text that Roccoco artists only depicted the wealthly people.
Second, frivolous subject matters of Roccoco arts, as criticized by the reading, is counter acted by the example given by the lecturer. She highlights about an art, done in Roccoco style, in which a girl is swinged by two men. The art is clearly not shallow and depicts deep meaning about these three people and the smile on their faces.
Lastly, the lecturer posits that, although, the modern art craves for simplicity, the Roccoco artists used different colors, experiments in their art that entices art lovers even after centuries. This is something exactly challenging the view mentioned in the reading, where the Roccoco art has been depicted as over ornamental and flamboyant.
