Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage
The reading and lecture are both about the desertification of forest area. The author of the reading states that owing to the usuage of products manufactured by wood it has affected our ambience as well as habitat to great extent. The lecturer disagrees. He opposes the idea and attacks each of the claims made in the article.
First, the author begins by stating that wood industries are chopping the trees in huge amount which consequently lead to the soaring earth’s temperature. The professor believes there are flaws in the writer’s position. He contends although they cut trees they is a policy of planting trees after chopping it. In addition, they are not allowed to cut trees utterly.
Secondly, deforestation has created challenges to wildlife species. Furthermore, with the increment in saw mill there is plummeting in wild animals such as wolves, beer and so on and eventually they are in the verge of extinction. The speaker on other hand points out that woods are deacying naturally on one hand and on other trees are cutting in order to create livestock which means developing habitat for wild species. Hence, deforestation is not the reason for their decrement but the consumption of meat is in real.
Finally, eventhough it is suggested to use paper bag instead of plastic one, it is perceived that both are equally devastating. Moreover, plastic can not be exterminate so it is detrimental to surrounding whereas in order to make paper bag trees must be destroyed. Thus, both are equally responsible for environmental degradation. The professor rebuts this argument. He puts forth the idea that products are being produced by limiting the devastation to environment. Likewise, plantation is done in a bare land after it is chopped down.
As we can see, the author and lecturer holds conflicting views on deforestation. The speaker effectively challenges the writer’s argument.
